Incidently, 'The Road to Serfdom' by Von Hayek is a fabulous read.

Are you familiar with the writings of john taylor gatto or charlotte iserbyt ?

iserbyt is on the alex jones show today actually !

TODAY ON THE ALEX JONES SHOW

Alex talks with former federal prosecutor and a former member of the United States House of Representatives, Bob Barr. He was the Libertarian Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2008 election. Mr. Barr has filed a Freedom of Information Act request in response to the revelation that the the Department of Homeland Security has been keeping tabs on the Drudge Report and other prominent media outlets who have spearheaded a nationwide revolt against invasive TSA airport security measures. Alex also talks with whistleblower Charlotte Iserbyt who served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education, during the first Reagan Administration. Iserbyt is the author of The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, a chronological history of the past 100+ years of education reform. The book argues that the academic meltdown in our public education system is intentional. It is now available at the Infowar Store. Alex also covers the latest breaking news and takes your call.

Listen now Listen Now Windows Media Windows Media Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Thumbs up Ivan Illich

I am familiar with the writings of J.T.Gatto but I am not familiar with Charlotte Iserbyte (yet).

I am more a fan of Ivan Illich. He wrote 'Deschooling Society',a wonderful read.

I am very concerned with some of the leftist claptrap which gets taught in our Universities here.

Gillard comes from (nominally) the 'Left Faction' of the Labor Party and look at her!

Keep it coming Gospodin Axiom!

Educated people tend to go ape if they are told to clean toilets. Educated people become soldiers who will not obey orders. Educated people do not usually become prostitutes. Educated people want some else to clean their toilet, fight their wars, and work on their genitals.

Personally, I am pretty unimpressed that there are no driveway service stations anymore.

As a teacher I want the leaving age to be 14. Most people over 14 do not belong in ANY school.

Dunno if it "profound" but it is an unspoken truth, a taboo. The reality [note that axiom] is there are a lot of crappy jobs out their that need to be done. Many of those jobs have been exported to developing countries. All those menial production lines that gave us tyres, toasters, toys and telephone help are in china and India. Now our less abled citizens are unemployed, and in our technologically advanced first world, that means unemployable.

We need to bring back our dead-end jobs for our dead-heads. Currently the high schools are soaking up about half a million semi-literate semi-adults who would be unemployed and causing trouble on the streets if they weren't causing trouble in the schools. High school is a waste of TME (time, money, energy) for about a third of people. The tragedy is that that third are, by their antics, holding back the education of the other two thirds.

Thumbs up The Daylesford-Lyonville-Blackwood region

It was like this back in my day. Growing up in a VERY rough area (Broadmeadows) in the 70's a lot of kids went through more hell, with other thug kids we were studying with, than with 'the system'.

A lot of these kids became violent criminals (now dead) but many kids were damaged beyond help.

It is worse now I believe.

It was sheer luck a teacher showed some faith in me (she knew I played junior chess tournaments!) I thanked her by letter only 22 years later!
I owe chess for getting me out of Broadmeadows and into the Blackwood/Daylesford area.

I've been here ever since.

I respect many teachers, my brother is a teacher, my in-laws are teachers.
Many see it as a 'calling'. It can be, truly! Even I used to teach.

If we maintain high minimal wages, those jobs will never come back.
