Greetings,
Taking up Axioms challenge we can begin our informed group communication by starting here-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_Group I think this is a reasonable place to begin. Now I challenge anybody to state five empirically confirmed facts. I will begin. 1.- The group does exist. 2.- The group meets generally once a year. 3.- The groups reports are secret 4.- Paul Wolfowitz is a member of this group. 5.- The group promotes Conservative/Libertarian values. Knowledge is a circle So.... Who ever posts next can you confirm or judge my 5 stated facts with Yes/Unclear or No and then state five of your own! (with a linked source) cheers Fg7 |

This doesn't seem like a big deal at all! Who cares if a bunch of politicians and royal family members have a 'secret' annual meeting?

1. "I don't think it's true to say that we want to keep it [Bilderberg] out [of the public consciousness], we never wanted to get it in. We don't encourage people to mention it in the mainstream press because we don't encourage idle speculation about what we do. ...... We forbid individual attendees from giving press meetings at our conferences, and we do that not because we're secrecy mad, but because we want to control the politicians who come." Martin Taylor - Secretary General, Bilderberg - interviewed by Jon Ronson for the UK Channel 4 TV programme 'Secret Rulers of the World' transmitted 27Jun01
2.The Bilderberg Group is a group of influential people, mostly politicians and business people, whose existence and activities are private, and due to its secretive nature is the subject of numerous conspiracy theories. The group meets annually at five-star resorts throughout the world, normally in Europe, although sometimes in America or Canada. It has an office in Leiden, South Holland. Although the group has no official name, the “Bilderberg Group” title comes from what is generally recognized to be the location of its first official meeting in 1954: the Bilderberg Hotel in Arnhem, the Netherlands. 3.The stated reason for the group’s secrecy is that it enables people to speak freely without the need to carefully consider how every word might be interpreted by the mass media. However, as many of the attendees have gained their power through the democratic process, it is debatable if it is morally desirable for them to exercise their power off the record 4.Attendees of Bilderberg include central bankers, defense experts, mass media press barons, government ministers, prime ministers, royalty, international financiers and political leaders from Europe and America. Some of the Western world’s leading financiers and foreign policy strategists attend Bilderberg. Donald Rumsfeld is an active Bilderberger - so is Peter Sutherland from Ireland, a former European Union commissioner and chairman of Goldman Sachs and of BP. Rumsfeld and Sutherland served together in 2000 on the board of the Swedish/Swiss energy company ABB. Former US Deputy Defense Secretary and current World Bank head Paul Wolfowitz is also a member, as is Roger Boothe, Jr. The group’s current chairman is Étienne Davignon, the Belgian politician and businessman. 5. Fact1-: Martin Taylor is/or was a secretary General of Bilderberg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Taylor_(businessman) Fact2-: Jon Rowson is a documentary filmmaker, amongst other things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Ronson Fact3-: UK Channel 4 aired the documentary in the public media. http://www.channel4.com/about4/overview.html This website states that "The Corporation's board is appointed by OFCOM in agreement with the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Fact 4-: According to Martin Taylor, the Bildenberg group "...want to control the politicians who come." Now control may not mean influence, it may mean limit in this context. Fact 5-: Tessa_Jowell was the 2001 Secretary of state for Culture,Media and Sport. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tessa_Jowell Lots of questions Axiom, but lets get our facts agreed on before we move forward. cheers Fg7 |
