Question CV Photo's

Should you include a photo on your CV? Some people swear by it, but others I hear are dead set against it.

Suppose it depends on whether or not you're good looking? Any opinions? I'm sending out a batch of cv's soon so need some opinions about this.

No photo! But if you insist, you could include a photo of their naked wife. That will either get you the job or a busted face.

I find prospective employers like to see a bit of a sense of humour .

Affix a photo of you in a burqa on your cv .... arrive at the interview in a burqa ...the minute you sit down , wildly rip the burqa from your head , and just sit there grinning like a cheshire cat .

(And if they can't see the funny side of that , then they're not worth being your employer .)

I know that in our job, any cv's that come in with photos are immediately placed in the "do not hire or reassess" pile... I'm against it, unless you're going for a job as a model or an actress, why should it be necessary?

I think the fact is, even if you get an interview, you will be assessed on how you look - even if only subconsciously. But its sometimes harder for them to cut you loose at that stage than it is pre-interview, meaning its probably not a good idea to put your photo in your CV. You give yourself a better overall chance of getting the job if you don't attach a photo.

Default Employers

Including a photo of oneself as part of a CV has about as much relevance as including a photo of ones cat or dog.

Employers already do some pretty dodgy things in selecting employees. I know a guy who 'uses a policeman' friend to check for criminal records (illegal).

Another guy I used to know uses a private investigator to go throught the applicants rubbish (illegal)

They wouldn't like it if it was done to them.

Sickos.
