The night before Christmas is the time to make your wishes... what do you wish for?
Chess Clubs and Players of Victoria is the new information hub for chess players and chess clubs in Victoria. It is targeted at Chess Players rated between 1200 and 2000 - so we need your feedback...what do you want to see on this website? Calendars, ratings, club news, results, pictures, annotated games? It has been setup to enable information sharing quickly, easily and most importantly by ANYONE at all - regardless of technical knowledge. If you would like to become a contributor (or just learn more about websites) please register for "Training for ChessClub.com.au" on Sunday, December 27, 2009 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM at Chess World, 451 North Rd, Ormond: Register Now - free If there is enough interest from players participating in the Canterbury Summer Swiss then we'll move the venue to the Box Hill Chess Club (with permission from the club of course)....the training is scheduled to fall conveniently between rounds. If you can't make it in person then you can attend the Virtual Training online. This free training session will show you how to : a) Use Chess Clubs and Players of Victoria for your own information b) Become a contributor and upload reports, results, pictures or games c) Update your Club Calendar d) Integrate your Club Calendar on your own website Every club will have: a) A web-page on ChessClub.com.au b) A calendar linked onto ChessClub.com.au c) The option of having their very own full website at clubname.chessclub.com.au using the same software as used for ChessClub.com.au and designed by ChessClub (but fully customizable by individual clubs). The site is completely free for users and clubs. It is maintained thanks to Chess World and provides opportunities for visitors to purchase chess books, software and other chess products online. Watch an about the site. |

I would have thought u would be the first to sign up.
U are doing a good job maintaining various sites. I would have assumed you would jump at any opportunity to learn and continue developing your skills. Plus it is of great benefit to all the clubs and chess in general. Why am I insane to think that some members of bhcc would be interested in helping the broader community? What about clubs like Elwood. Mentone. Albury who have no web site at all? Surely this will help them? Why can't u be supportive of this. Other clubs success takes nothing away from the success of your club. Stop trying to hold everyone else back to give your club the illusion of progress. Let's work together to improve every club and event. |

I think that the site is really good. It is also really easy to use. Ive put a few MCC things up on it already and I encourage other clubs to use it too - its free advertising essentially... Hats off to David Cordover for organising and launching this.

David David This is a joke from a Marx Brothers film ,,Night at the opera,, it is the famous scene of the tearing up of the contracts
Groucho: That’s in every contract. That’s – that’s what they call a sanity clause Chico: You can’t fool me There ain’t no Sanity Claus. Can't you lighten up a bit it is a long time till the next election |

That's a great movie. Seen it a dozen times....Sorry for not getting the joke...easy to misunderstand communication in this forum.
There is a 1992 movie called Brain Donors which takes the same plot ... was hillarious when I was a kid, but not seen it in a decade or so. I was lucky to have been educated with Marx Bros movies so understood the plot even when I was a kid... PS. I'm not particularly motivated by the results of an election - having a 'president' title isn't going to change the amount of effort I put in to club chess. I was disappointed with the recent CV decision (even with a $3k budget approved and some email advice from me) to not develop a new website - there is an old saying about what to do if you want something done... |

Today is the day of good will towards all men.
It is not the day that discussions and decisions will take place. Nevertheless out of sight things are happening. David asked me to look at his web site. I have looked at in depth. In places I have even looked at the source code. I am not going to go off half cock. Any comments and suggestions that I may make will only be made after careful thought, discussions with other people and experiments on my personal test web site. There is no way that I will make suggestions that do not work. Meanwhile back at the ranch I have to help set up for the tournament and then play in the tournament.
