I thought MOZ intentionally stepped down as CV Treasurer?

If he had run again, I would have supported his candidacy 100%

CV gained a President who is visible to the chess community and who works hard for the cause, a secretary who is keen to improve both his chess skills and his admistrative skills, and a treasurer who has a recommendation by the previous treasurer.

Only one coach replaced anyone, Sandler was already on the committee and as far as I know, the new treasurer is not a chess coach.

Look, I'm not an apologist for anyone, but I'm willing to give these guys a fair go, and judge them by their actions. I'll join the criticism when its due and the praise.

Default How many coaches?

In my coach counting I included David Hacche. The coaching additions are Darryl Johansen and the aforementioned Hacche; surprises to me but I am not knocking them either.
I have already admitted in the post you quoted that my remarks [heavily qualified by the way] were somewhat negative.
So just in case the public is not quite clear on who is doing what Below is the executive as submitted to me by CV president for inclusion on the web site
President Leonid Sandler
Vice President Darryl Johansen
Secretary Jamie Kenmure
Treasurer David Grenness
Executive members David Hacche and Victor Kildisas

It would seem that BHCC has purposely walked away from all the criticism that has been heaped on them for stepping up and filling the vacuum in CV, when nobody else wanted to bother.

Shows what happens in most volunteer organisations when the people who are not interested in helping just stand back and heap shit on the people who have a go and do their best.

Will be interesting to see how CV goes over the next year without active BHCC involvement.

Quite obvious that BHCC could have got the votes to put forward their own committee if they wished and also quite obvious that the better choice was to walk away and let someone else have the headache

From a personal point of view I intended to stand for the Treasurer position as evidenced that my name appeared on Leonid's ticket in his JAK interview that was published on chesschat.
However, the emergence of the candidacy of David Grenness was a very positive step forward for a new resource to assist Chess Victoria objectives. I thought he would be a terrific addition to CV Inc. And, after a very positive hand-over session today I am convinced that David Grenness is a good choice.
So I advised Leonid that I would offer my time to some of the other non-Executive CV vacancies once the election was out of the way.
Perhaps if I had announced this earlier on a bulletin-board then the direction of the AGM may have given more air-time to platform issues , but that was not the choice made by those posing questions.

All large Club's should see it as their duty to have a resource contributing to making CV effective for a task or two. Whether it be as an Executive member, or a valued contribution such as Ratings Officer, or Web-Master, or Public Officer.
Similarly, all large coaching organisations should contribute some time to State tasks.

Yes. And so too for chess businesses. The two bigs in NSW - Parr and Jones - both contribute in their ways to NSW chess.

Fair enough, I was just responding to who you mentioned in your previous post as these were only succeeded by one coach.

No worries Gerrit, we probably all have some reservations about the make up of committees. But then we just got to get on with it, give support, constructively criticise, praise where due until the next AGM when we can judge the performances for the year.

Mate,

You are preaching to the converted. After I was elected CAQ Vice President a few years ago, and the cat fights began, I thought to myself - why am I putting up with this nonsense, for free, as a volunteer. Stuff it, and I resigned. For 2 years afterwards the CAQ remained mired in strife until Bill Powell and Dion came along and helped to get them back on track

The bottomline, however, is that I understand that volunteers sometimes get unfairly treated. Been there - done that!

I won't blame MOZ one ounce for calling it a day.
