Smile Hello from LucifersLegionary

Hey you guys!
I have recently relocated down under from Stateside and I'm hoping to play some chess.
Found your site and figured, Oh so that's good they play chess in Australia!
I am at a god-forsaken place called Hobart. Anybody know it?

Anyone know if they play chess down here at all??
I think they must, there's nothin else to do. Damn cold and the sun doesn't come out much.
Anyone know any chess friends down this way?

Thanks in advance
Luke

Hi Luke!

Yes, I know Hobart - its somewhere in Tasmania. There is a great chap in that state named Phil and he sometimes posts here too!

I'm usually in Hobart during march for the Tassy state swimming championships. The interesting thing about hobart is that after being there for 2 days, you know your way around the entire city ^_^ Nice to meet you.

Thanks guys.
Good idea to go swimming here - it never seems to stop raining for long!
I've found some mention on another ozzy chess site of a "chess tournament" being held here next weekend.

The entry list is confirmed 8!!
Maybe some kind of joke I think

The numbskull organising it first got the dates wrong and then did'nt bother to distribute any entry forms so I guess it's no big surprise they got 8 entries.

I think I'll give this one a miss.
Anyone know if they ever have real tournaments down this way?

Yeah, chess administration in Tasmania can sometimes be lacking. Indeed, outside Victoria it seems to be wanting generally.

Tassie has one lamb brain chess personality in particular who spends much of his life posting on forums and angering older Tasmanians over 'crucially important' issues such as bat populations.

Anyway, if I get wind of a good (properly organized event) in Tasmania - I will certainly let you know.
