Default Hi all

My name is Rodolfo Agustin (Gus) D'Onofrio, I'm 35 and I come from Argentina.

I used to play some Chess at a respectable level till I was 14. Then I stopped playing for 20 years. I'm now starting to play again at BHCC and also at Free Online Chess (user Agustin).

I'm trying to play at the level I used to play 20 years ago, but so far I'm failing miserably. I used to play very strong openings and now I usually mess up in the first moves. I need to study the theory again. I can't give a decent game to most players, and it doesn't feel good.

Something I can still do is play reasonably good end games from even positions. The problem is that by the time I get to the end game, my positions are no longer even.

If I can manage the humilliation of losing most of the games I play for a while, may be in a couple of years I'll get some acceptable results and regain my long lost confidence.

Finally, a recommendation for all fellow players: if and when you take a break just try to make it shorter than 20 years.

Looking forward to playing you all and learning again!!!!

Gus

Really? I once lost to someone named Ly Mouthun, he was 11 years old at the time. I found the experience of losing to someone so young to be quite unsettling!

Anyway, welcome to OzChess! We are glad to have you.

You keep getting his name wrong.

It is Moulthun not Mouthun and Ly is his surname.

Isn't he is a very strong player though?

Are you the spelling police? I thought that was Kevin's job
