The petition
Millions and millions of Chess enthusiasts use the internet as a primary means of representation. When purchasing an internet domain name we are forced to acquire the same old pedestrian domain name extensions of .com, .org, etcetera. But, since Chess is the world's most popular game - it deserves to have a unique entity on the internet with its own internet domain name extension of .chess
Simply put, this petition will demonstrate to the internet domain name companies that Chess enthusiasts want their own domain name extension of .chess

To gain support for the .chess domain name extension, we will be sending the petition to national chess federations, international chess federations (ie. FIDE), and throughout the chess community in general.

So its a petition for websites to be allowed to end in .chess? I don't know whether I should support that. Seems a bit strange to me.

I don't think the organization in charge of domains will allow that as they turned down ".xxx" and that extension had a lot more support than the chess community.
But since there's stuff like .travel there's still some hope.
