I had not heard of Soltis before this thread but when checking this entry has confused me:Problem with Book Openings - Yugoslav Attack Soltis Variation - Chess.com

so what stands up please?

from Site:

If you go to Book Openings, and search for "Soltis" you will find an entry on the Yugoslav Attack, Soltis Variation (B79). Unfortunately, the variation is wrongly identified. The Soltis variation of the Yugoslav attack starts with:

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3 0-0 8.Qd2 Nc6 9.Bc4 Bd7 10.0-0-0 Rc8 11.Bb3 Ne5 12.h4 h5

It is a common trap people fall into. They try to overdefend c3 an in the process get a completely lost position!

Not Enough love for Pauls post me thinks.

It is an all time classic! The Wing Ding Vs The Dragon!

Meanwhile.....after self combusting great positions in the Australia day weekender, which will now be forever known as the hottest tournament of death on the planet, (designed to kill older players me thinks). I walked into the club on Day 3 knowing one thing..... It couldn't get any worse...it was time to unleash the beast......thus....the Dragon was let of the leash to do its thing. Crush or be crushed was the battle cry!

Poor Gary Bekker didn't know what hit him as White. It was like a Mack truck running through a railway level crossing!

It doesn't look very common. Do you have a line to show how this occurs?

Its not that I don't like the dragon, but black has better options than the Sicilian in response to e4. But as far as the Sicilian goes, the dragon is fairly sound and offers black some good play which he can convert to a winning position, sometimes.
