Chess Emotions. Speaking strictly from my point of view, your emotions in chess can have a negative or a positive influence on your game. The outcome of your game can sometimes be determined on your state of mind before you actually sit down to play the game.
If you enter the game with a negative attitude, that just because a person has a slightly higher rating than you and you have no chance of winning the game, then you're pretty much defeated at the onset of the game. There is no special formula or magic potion that will help you with the way you approach your game. Emotions can hit you when you experience a sudden change in your game. When you are winning the game, your confidence is pretty high, then suddenly a bad move appears. Your confidence dwindles, emotional sweat may appear, and you may lose confidence in your ability to locate good moves. You can't get away from your emotional thoughts, and they are even harder to control. Just watch your emotions and try not to fight them. Chess is a game. Relax, take your time. You will notice that your opponent will make his share of mistakes too. Go over your games and try to determine what went wrong. This will help you control your emotions in future games. |
