The penalty for arriving 15 minutes late to the first round of a tournament, if you had not warned the DOP beforehand, would be that you would not be included in the tournament (or at least the draw for the first round).

Following are amended details of all Croydon events up to and including the 2011 Annual General Meeting. Is it too much to ask you to check that my work is correct? If it is I will send a copy to the Croydon Chess Club. I worked from the PDF version of the calendar. It would be best if my list is checked against the calendar on the web site as this would reveal any discrepancies between the web site calendar and the PDF calendar.
Last year, Croydon Chess Club on their Thursday club nights operated along these lines:

6:30 Juniors start
7:30 Juniors finish (and the setting up for the Senior tournament starts)
7:45 Senior tournament starts

I believe this is still the case, however I will ask someone on the committee to check the times quoted.

But what if you have a really good reason for being 15 minutes late? For instance, your car wouldn't start.

I don't know about you, but in that instance, my mind would probably not be on trying to get to the first round of the tournament - I'm probably going to be a lot more than 15 minutes late!

Is a flat battery the only reason a car won't start? Even then, why not use the other car if you're in a hurry?

Enough, I give up! I am unable to deal with both the specificity of Axiom and the perplexing abstruseness of Just2good.

Not many people ever did understand Boris Spassky. Perhaps Bobby Fischer was the only one.

Thanks for posting this correction Ian. Thanks too to David Flude for including the Croydon tournaments.

As Ian, said, Croydon's Senior tournaments (which are open to interested juniors by the way) start at 7:45 pm not 8 pm. I'm not sure where David got that time.

Speaking of times, players intending to enter this tournament should register by 7:30 pm sharp on the first night (25 Feb) with play commencing at 7:45 pm. Anyone allowed to enter after 7:30 pm will be randomly paired against other latecomers. The field will be closed once round 1 has been completed (no mid-tournament entries.) Postponements will be available with the consent of your opponent and the Director of Play. Players entering the tournament are expected to complete the tournament unless they have valid reasons to withdraw, approved in advance by the DOP. Director of Play is IM Guy West. Guy can be contacted on 0402 083 654.

The club calendar on our website is the most up-to-date method of checking what's going on for all those interested in playing at Croydon CC. See www.croydonchess.com

Default corrections made.

I have corrected the Croydon data. Thanks Guys.

Hobsons Bay have checked my data and I have made two small corrections.

I shall finish entering Geelong data tonight. Incidentally Geelong checked with me as to whether three proposed events clashed with events held by other clubs. Sure enough one proposed event clashed with an event being held by another club. Fortunately the clash of dates is easily avoided.
