I had an email from a friend that told me to check out CAQ AGM on Chess Chat with only 5 turning up to the AGM.

I did not quite expect Gunnar to come out with that as he is in publishing and would know laws of defamation. |

His Brisbane Chess club has run no Open week end Grand Prix Tournaments and hosted no ACF events. At Ipswich we hosted 6 Open week end Events and hosted The Australian Juniors and The Australian Girls tournaments. At Suncoast we hosted many week end Open Tournaments and The Australian Open. Gunner has to be nasty to divert the Thread as his record is very poor in Fostering and Promoting Chess in Qld. |

Emails to members, entry form to all known chess players and clubs. Create hype and interest just like other sports do. With numbers on the rise the possibility of sponsorship grows. Bigger number at tournaments with sponsorship ad’s up to better prize list and better players entering.
It is not brain surgery; however it is above Gunners and his mate’s level of understanding. The thread stated only 5 turned up to the CAQ AGM. This is because the CAQ failed to advise all members that the AGM was on and that they could become nominated for a position on Council if they wish to do so. The Players and Clubs must have conference in the CAQ for it to work. |

Just look at the number of players at Open Tournaments. |

Out of curiosity Brian, apart from Gunner do you have any friends in Queensland chess?
I certainly doubt you have many left from the Gap Chess Club after your remark that you seldom play there because there are no players at that club strong enough to give you a good game.

I think my question was pretty straight forward, Alex. Just the time in days, or perhaps years, will suffice. Then again if you don't know the answer perhaps you should keep quiet and let other people, who do know what they are talking about, talk.
