Question Heartbreak Kid's ACF Rating!

Hey Heartbreak Kid, I don't get it. You said you won all your games and your rating went down? Is that correct?

Yeah, I started the tournament with a rating of 1380. I had a 7/7 score at the end, and now it's 1275.

Tournament Rating Graph
RJ Shield, 31st May 2009 1275 Unofficial Rating
Brimbank, 15th Aug 2008 1380 Estimated Rating

What does it mean by unofficial and estimated?

The RJ Shield entry looks like a figure that would be supplied by Chess Kids.
See Welcome to Chess Kids | Chess Kids
although you may need to register to get access.
If it is a Chess Kids rating, then it is based on different data (events) and different formula that the ACF (Australian Chess Federation) quarterly ratings that were released last night.

Can you give us more information on what the Brimbank event was. Perhaps this was not ACF rated either.

Even if it is based on different data, why is it going down?

The Brimbank data may be quite separate from Chess Kids and from the ACF.
It may not have been used as a start point for the RJ Shield calculation.
Can you give us a bit more information on who ran the Brimbank event?

Brimbank was with Chess Kids. I don't think I have an ACF rating since I only just registered with MCC. I went into the RJ shield one with 1380, won all my games, and when I checked my rating when I got home, it was 1275.

Thanks for clarifying the promoter of the Brimbank event.
Unfortunately it does make it difficult to answer your original question because the anomaly is rather stark.
Given that Chess Kids has offered all Victorian Clubs to run a free ratings service next year, it is to be hoped that they read here and given an explanation.
