Question Who Painted That Wall?

The first thought that also popped into my mind. Sadly, as art and chess rarely go together, the artists who painted the wall probably don't even know the rules of chess.

Spray paint? The pictures seem a little too sharp to be spray painted, but if they were - all the more power to the artists!

I've been working on getting the DGT board going at MCC. Now all we need is to setup the files to load to the website since everything has been installed on a "server" computer I set up to exclusively host the live games.

Hopefully this will all be finalised by Saturday so that this weeks allegro board 1 games can be viewed via MCC's website.

DGT board update:
We are currently looking for the cable that connects the board to the computer. Grant and Tristan will looking at places like Dick Smith for such a chord. Hopefully they can get the chord in before then.

As for the FTP side of it all, I have tested it on my domain, and you can see my progress at tfd
I will be organising the FTP access for the MCC website tomorrow, however, if the MCC website can not be ready before Saturday, I will be hosting the games at my website.

I will provide further updates when the chord is ready!

HBK,

You are indeed doing a great job and I am sure MCC management would be really proud of your contribution. Well Done.

Best Wishes

Great work Frank, the MCC gets better and better with more members willing to share their abilities and time for the good of the club.

Bobby is a member at Box Hill and has been for some time, his father is President. James has been a member of another club long before he joined Melbourne. Please acknowledge this in future postings.

Does not mean they are not MCC members.

DGT board is up and running and working smoothly. This week's allegro was hosted on ozchess, so thank you to Alex for sparing some of ozchess's bandwidth to allow me to host it here. Can't wait until next weeks!

I find this post exceedingly petty.

It's ok to praise club members for their performances - absolutely nothing wrong with that and BHCC certainly do that with their juniors. Good on them for encouraging their members.

However to then go on to a thread about another club's activities and criticise that other club's officer for failing to note the alternate memberships of successful club members smack of parochialism and possessiveness.

As far as I am concerned this is a thread about the MCC and the players praised are MCC members. End of. The facts that two are also members elsewhere is totally irrelevant to the thread.

What next? Will BHCC note that quite a few of its successful junior members (Schon, Cheng, Matheson, etc) are also members of Noble Park CC? Do you want the MCC to note the contribution of Noble Park and Elwood CCs in the contribution to James Morris' chess development? Should we be forever noting the contribution of Heidelberg CC to the development of Australia's first homegrown over the board GM, Ian Rogers?

Default MCC gets new couch!!!

I am very pround to announce that today the MCC disposed of its horrible old couch which we all had the displeasure of sitting on. (My father took it to the tip in his van - thanks dad). We have replaced it with a stylish and comfortable burgundy couch made of good quality leather. So this year if you become an MCC member, you will have the opportunity to sit on a couch of the finest quality between your games of chess. Come down to MCC this Saturday to see the couch - and stay for the allegro. If yours is the first game finished, you may even have the couch all to yourself!
