The Cry of the Possum!

Okay, GM Axiom has inspired me to start using the Possum. So far I am an impressive 2-0-0 with it. This thread is for games played using the Possum!

The possum just looks wrong! No wonder it is rarely played at the highest levels of chess. Does anyone really want to do an indepth analysis of this opening?

Actually I think the d3-e4-f3 looks really cool. I'd never play it though.

Someone played this opening against me recently and I didn't know how to deal with it. Is there official strategy if you are black regarding how to play against the possum?

Well I believe the best way for black to deal with the possum is to simply resign after the 2nd move f3. That way you can leave the board with your dignity still in tact

I'm getting housed with this opener, i feel like it opens me up too much. In fact, based on my past experiences i feel like if i dont get my king castled asap i get bossed around the board the whole game.

Well you need to know how to handle the possum. I would never give a loaded shot gun to a child, nor would I expect a beginner would have success with the possum. The possum is for trained chess professionals ONLY. Amateurs are not required nor expected to use this opening. I suggest you stick to the traditional Ruy Lopez, at least for the time being.
