Smile Chess Diagrams - Positions (pgn/fen)

How do you add chess positions like the one above to your posts?

Go to this website:

http://www.chess-videos.com/chess-diagram-generator.php

STEP #1 - Set up your chess position.

Note that you cannot capture other piece by superimposing your piece on the square, rather manually take the piece you want to capture off the board with your mouse and then place your own piece on that square.

STEP #2 - Click Generate Diagram

STEP #3 - Cut and paste the link in the box entitled "NEW! Now with a link back to the position:"

STEP #4 - Paste that link in your post

STEP #5 Post your post, the chess diagram should appear.

Default Chess Game Viewer

Does this site have a game viewer so you can run through entire chess games by clicking a button?

Euro, please see post below.

Also, if the diagram in post #1 isn't big enough for your liking, then the size can be enlarged. Please see below.

An external pgn viewer can be found here which has a unique feature allowing the game to be saved and linked to from OzChess permanently -

http://www.chess-videos.com/chess-game-uploader.php

Simply type in your moves in the empty box as follows:

1 e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6

And so forth.

Then hit the Convert button, and cut and paste the link generated. Castling is capital O dash capital O, not zero dash zero, rather it is the letter O. Then post that link in your post here on OzChess

Default PGN viewer

Fortnight's up, still no deal? ... Alex, if you allow HTML in your posts and I can give you an HTML viewer that everyone can use.

Hi LBC

Unfortunately I can't set the settings to allow html in posts because it gives rise to very serious security issues. Also, I don't know who you are

The external pgn viewer is fine for the pruposes of saving your game in pgn format and then just linking to it. Please see the Grandmaster Theatre thread to see how easily I did this.

Grandmaster Theatre

The last news was that there is still an internal pgn viewer being developed, and when it comes out I do hope to add it to this site.

Canterbury Game

^ Press this link to the game.

Just a clarifications. The game in the post above wouldn't work because its not in the correct format. Contrast with the one below (if anyone is interested)

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. e5 Nd5 4. Nc3 e6 5. Nxd5 exd5 6. d4 Nc6 7. dxc5 Bxc5
8. Qxd5 Qb6 9. Bc4 Bxf2+ 10. Ke2 O-O 11. Rf1 Bc5 12. Ng5 Nd4+ 13. Kd1 Ne6
14. Ne4 d6 15. exd6 Bxd6 16. Nxd6 Rd8 17. Bf4 Nxf4 18. Qxf7+ Kh8 19. Qg8+
Rxg8 20. Nf7

Nice game by the way

Ahh, the joys of finding something positive in defeat.

The player of the black pieces was keen to tell me this morning that his glorious loss had all been seen before in Unzicker v Sarapu (perhaps in an Olympiad). It can therefore regarded as a high class loss.
