A day devoted to chess was chosen by the challenger where as the Siberian chess cub decided to spend the day devoting his time to the study of the enzymatic browning of apples.
As darkness began to set in across the eastern coast of Australia the entire world began to light up and at approximately 9:15 the game began. The cub chose 1.e4 as the opening weapon and although HBK was nearly blinded by the thousands of flashing cameras which erupted around the stadium he found his tactical weapon 1.. c5 preparing for a fire breathing dragon. Rather than play right into the hands of the challenger a new move was used by the cub 2.c3 opening a Sicilian, Alapin. The cub swiftly blundered 2 pawns but the activity and bishop pair these granted him made for some major counterplay. When Jaydon offered a third pawn for HBK the temptation proved too much and the challenger's uncastled king was swiftly pounced upon. Although blacks 18th move wasn't the best the position could be easily analysed as winning for white. So the first game was perhaps quicker then expected but nonetheless entertaining. After the first game the series sits at 1-0 to the siberian chess cub. |

Our team of analysts have concluded that the game was winning for white nearly from when the third pawn was accepted.
It could be noted that after 17.Qc1 all defences were reltaively feeble however the best attempt would have been 17... Qc4 After 18. Qf4 18... Be7 is the only acceptable move otherwise checkmates along the 7th rank are coming. However after Rc1 it's nearly all over with Rc8 simply accpeting the exchange appearing to be the best option. Might've been a longer game but it could still be analysed as much better for white. lol yep blame it on Nc6

In the second game HBK absolutely smashed the cub's favourited dragon, in fact so badly it has caused opening problems for the rest of the series as black.
The series now sits after 2 games at 1-1 Cub to play white next game |

h5... Carl Gorka suggested that I play it. Resulted in too many problems.

Games 3, 4, 5 and 6 were played today so I'll post them each seperately and give the results and updated series score. Please not the cub does not take any responsibility whatsoever for what took place in the last 3 games.

and certainly not this one..
HBK somehow takes the series lead during the blitz section 3.5-2.5 The press were trying to find Jaydon for the conference but rumour has it he is currently trying to make opening theory negligible in a chess game. Chess 960 perhaps solves this problem? Either way he is certainly none to please with his performances in these games after doing so well outside in his lead up games. |
