To anyone who is reasonably familiar with personages and history of these Chess Forums the Orifice account could never have been anyone else but me taking the mickey out of Dr. Bonham so to try to screw an allegation of "cowardice" out of that is arguably going over the top.

However I do accept that it was a mistake and it was uncivil and it was even hypocritical if you like.

The record shows that only 1 or 2 (?) posts were made and that these were innocuous in their content and that I admitted ownership of the hydra without being under any pressure to do so and that i asked the moderators to bar the user.
It was intended as an attempt to lighten the mood a litttle however as it has been received so badly in some quarters I was quick to remedy the problem and I do not intend to do it again.

As a gesture of good faith i will amend my signature shortly as, while it may be an accurate statement, it also is causing some grievance.

Phil.

Absolutely.

As such if AO is consistent he should ban your account for 24 hours for being uncivil.

You created the hydra account around 11:23 on 2nd July and finally admit it is your account at 9:27am on 15th July here.

In fact as late as 14th July you were still pretending not to know who "TheOrifice" was.

This admission by you was only made after numerous claims by Kevin and me that it was your hydra.

13 days is hardly quick.

If you were genuinely showing a gesture of good faith you would have said
"As a gesture of good faith i will amend my signature shortly as it also is causing some grievance."
instead of trolling by adding the "while it may be an accurate statement" part.

For the record I consider my response to Phil above to be no more uncivil than his post I was responding to.

I am impressed Bill. This could be the first time you have impressed me with an argument, so lets mark it in the calendar. Great shot, great effort! As the saying goes, close but no cigar.

Two significant considerations you missed.
  • Phil acknowledged his mistake on his own accord demonstrating forthrightness and candour; and
  • Phil acknowledged his mistake in an effort to move away from such uncivilness.
As such no banning or other punitive action is necessitated. Indeed, by his actions in addressing his mistake Phil should be commended.

Now how did I just know you would come up with some excuse not to ban him.

As far as I am concerned he may have acknowledged his mistake at the top of his post, but he is clearly trolling in the final part of his post.

BTW you have not yet responded to my post #18.

There are however times when the Ax is blunt.
