Default OzChess - How to Register

Registering and posting on OzChess is relatively simple. Just click the word 'Register' at the top centre of the page. From there enter the requested details (ie. the username you wish to use at OzChess).

Once you complete the registration process, the best way to gain access to OzChess is to refresh OzChess's homepage and then log in. You are not logged in automatically upon completing the registration process! You will need to enter your username and password in the top righthand corner of OzChess' homepage after you've created an account.

Once logged in new users will now be allowed to immediately start their own threads, or contribute to threads already started.

If anyone is having any problems at all, please email me at:

allegation@gmail.com

And be sure to provide enough detail so I can understand the issue/problem.

Thanks,

AO

Thanks Phil

There appears to be a problem I am having though in editing my posts. I don't know if others are having the same problem. Currently it appears that sometimes a person can't edit their own posts once the posts are posted because it just saves endlessly instead of making the change.

But other times it works no problem.

I will contact my tech guys and find out where things are at.

Default OzChess down a few hours for Shoutbox Installation

People may have noticed that OzChess was down for a few hours yesterday. I apologise for this. It was necessitated because the shoutbox installation is a little trickier than it would otherwise be as a result of the 2 good looking skins (Smooth & Aquateen). Unfortunately the site may soon have to be down a few hours again for the same reason. If this occurs when you try to log in, please come back later and accept my apologies. Making OzChess the premier chess forum in Australia requires a little bit of pain from all of us for substantial gain!

On another note, once again, if you want to view the 2 skins, go to the bottom of OzChess and where the little window says Smooth, click there and open Aquateen instead. This is a feature no other chess bulletin board in Australia has, and in time I may even add 2 more skins

Exclamation OzChess will be down this weekend!

It is now confirmed that OzChess will be down sometime this weekend for shoutbox installation.

Hopefully only for a few hours, please be patient but it is important that OzChess be the most technologically advanced chess forum in Australia in order to build membership numbers.

Hi Virgil

Unfortunately OzChess is in the development stage regarding this, and at present we cannot assist you. I would recommend you try www.chessclub.com, and use the Blitzin software which you may find helpful.

Exclamation OzChess Not Accessible?

A couple posters have told me they tried accessing OzChess from University computers but they couldn't log on.

If anyone else has had this problem, could you please PM me or email me

allegation@gmail.com

with the time this occurred, and whether you were using FireFox or Explorer at the time. In order to take this up with the hosting service I will need this info. It might have been just a gremlin, but I want to know for sure.

Thank you,

Alex

I have good news to report.

OzChess is now showing up on Google searches. Before it would only show up if one typed "OzChess" and hit enter.

Initially I was a little distressed that when I typed "Australia Chess Forum", only one Forum actually showed up in the search results, and that one was (for some unexplainable reason) positioned #3. ACCF did not show up at all! OzChess is now occupying the 6th spot. This will surely assist OzChess' membership to grow and prosper, and advertising for the site hasn't even commenced yet!

But the best news is that the Search Engine Optimizations (SEO's) haven't even been all set yet. I have an expert working on it and she has told me the best is yet to come. Perhaps OzChess will move above its 6th place ranking, but I am still very pleased with the results so far.

Nice work Alex.

I was reading with interest the other day how much Alan Kohler has to pay to get his own commercial product (The Eureka Report) to come up in prime position in a Google search. Was in 6 figures.

Once you hit the edit button, if it won't let you post, just press the Go Advanced button.
