A Random Puzzle

Hi

Not sure how to put this up, but here is a chess puzzle I found:

White: rook f3, bishop b3, king d5
Black: king g5, pawns g2 and g4

White to play and win.

Here, I Uploaded it for you. You need to make a pgn of the position, and then use the attachments to upload it. I assume Rg3 is winning for white.

maybe, doesn't the king just chase away the rook and push the pawn. Maybe the white king moves out of the way and the bishop can pin the pawn in enough time.

You pin the pawn with the rook so that it can't promote. The bishop will sac itself for the pawn.

Rxg2

Here is the variation:

1.Rg3 Kh4 2.Rxg2 Kh3 3.Rg1 Kh2 4.Rd1 g3 5.Kd4 g2 6.Bd5 g1=Q+ 7.Rxg1 Kxg1

And as we can see, the bishop alone will survive and you cannot mate with a bishop alone, so the game is drawn.

Try 6.rook d2 first, then Bd5 and white wins

....
if rg3 kh4 rg2 kh3 rg1 kh2?? rxg4 wins easily
instead g3, followed by kh2 and g2

and if rg3 kh4 rg2 kh3 rg1 g3, you play something like kd4 kh2 rd1 g2 rd2, what happens after kg3?
there is no time for bd5

Instead of Rg1 play Rf2 and continue to pin the pawn. You get a situation where you sacrafice the bishop (if he declines the sac and promotes to queen you get checkmate.
Something like
Rg3 Kh4 Rxg2 Kh3 Rf2 g3 Rf3 Kh2 Bc4 g2 Bf1

Yes/No? If g1=Q, Rh3#

Well done that is correct
White's rook moves in a 'square' shape f3-g3-g2-f2-f3

Edit: while we're going, can you guys help me with this puzzle? It's mate in 3 and it's giving me a giant headache.
