Default Silver, Gold, Giegold...

When you solve a lot of puzzles, you can not avoid the fact that certain composers have an unique, easily detectable style. One of my favourites,Fritz Giegold aka 'Rätsel Onkel' (Puzzle Uncle), certainly does. His problems are often without many variations, contain a hidden point and above all makes you smile and feel good when you 'get them'.

I recall one of the earlier ones I was looking in the local library. When I suddenly stumbled on the solution, I had no alternative, but laugh aloud, drawing some nasty frowns from other patrons. Here it is for your enjoyment:

F.Giegold, 1967

White to play and mate in 3 moves.

Here it is in the pgn viewer. Feel free to move the pieces around to discover the solution!

The trick is to allow Black a move, then get the Queen to the seventh rank for a checkmate the following move!

Great puzzle
That is brilliant! So it doesn't matter what pawn take what rook, the other rook delivers checkmate! Cool puzzle.

Hint for MonCapitan2002:
It's a giegold for heaven's sake - so, think of the most stupid move you can!
