Another active Endgame Group and most pleasing for me is the young players attending. We were looking at Knight Endgames tonight. Knight Endgames have been described as the most similar to pawn endgames so we tried to win a position with N+4 v N+3.

I think everyone in the group found knights very frustrating pieces in the endgame, whether they were defending or trying to win.

Next meeting is next Wednesday August 5th about 7.30pm and Bill Jordan will be presenting some ideas about rook endgames

Playing with 4 pawns? If you like I can set up the position - but first I need to know what the position is

Go through the game, you'll find it. My games with LM that night were quite fun

Thanks, it is also something I look forward to

Tonight, there were only a couple of us and all we did was try to win a position that Gata Kamsky couldn't win in the current GP tournament against Ivanchuk. Ivanchuk claimed the 50 move rule, which is quite unusual at top level chess. The true tragedy was that Kamsky had found the way to win, but just too late.

Carl usually brings in a few endgames that he's seen occur in a game in the past month, usually the last few weeks.

I can't attend the next few as I have exams, however, I would reccomend anyone that is interesting to go along as it is very good and instructive.

PS: since i went, i haven't lost an endgame!
