Default Crazy Openings!

Show us some weird, hilarious or strangely effective openings that you may have ecountered or employed! I'll get us kicked off, how about 1.h3?

Well I mentioned the grob before so I'd say it. I think the possum also deserves a mention But take note that there is nothing funny about 2.f3 "The cry of the possum splits the still night air"

Default Danish Gambit is crazy for an attacker

Give up three pawn in the first 4 moves for an all out attack.

Three pawns? I think not!

The Danish Gambit Accepted is as follows:

1. e4 e5
2. d4 exd4
3. c3 dxc3
4. Bc4 cxb2
5. Bxb2- I'd say that d5! is best for black here

And as you can note, White sacrifices TWO pawns.

Well one 1.H4 directly followed by 2.A4 is dead winning, assuming a blunder.

I've seen 1. a3 in tournament play, giving the opening tempo over to black.

I used to always see a4 followed by h4 followed by rooks up and I always used to just go e5, d5 followed by bishop for rook. So I'd be two exchanges up within 4 moves but I swear everyone in the primary division was playing the opening like it was winning.

Default Elephant gambit

1. e4 e5
2.Nf3 d5

I have played this in a fixed openings correspondence tournament. White is better if he knows what to do. I scored better as white but scored a couple of brilliancies as black.

Default Englund gambit

1. d4 e5

Stefan Bucker published a book on this opening. It is as tricky as a barrel load of monkeys.

Not really. Give the b2 pawn up to develop all your pieces and force black onto the back foot.

As for the danish gambit, you give up the b, c and d pawns for the e pawn. 3-1 =2

Because if they blunder a queen then you should end up in a won position. Thus making a4 followed by h4 clearly winning.

Blundering a queen is winning in most positions, particularly straight out of the opening.
