Smile MikesGuns Is a Winner!

Unbelievable.

Kevin's newest complaint seems to be that I endorsed a candidate:

The problem is not that he voted for a candidate (in small elections it is sometimes acceptable for the returning officer to themselves vote if no neutral third-party RO is available). The point is that when the person who owns a site publicly pushes a particular candidate, especially in a public poll, this has a potential to distort the outcome, and therefore it should not be done.

The fact is there was no neutral polling officer, and no need for one. Any member with ten posts could log into the poll and vote for whomever they wished.

While I am touched that Kevin thinks I am so influential that my endorsement gave MikesGuns a huge edge, I think the fact Mike is a great guy and well known Victorian chess player probably had much more to do with his successful result in the OzChess elections!
