Organiser named here.
Status is advised here. Denis has been coy about whether AusJCL is incorporated with insurance cover, or whether it has ACF default cover.

The Sandman shared the Geelong OPEN 1st prize with Box Hill junior Bobby Cheng.
Well done to the old guard. I hear he was also carrying out his role as Chess Victoria Vice-President and recognising Geelong's Interclub sagacious entry.

Budget is set at $6600 from an ACF motion that authorised collections from the State bodies
" ACF motion of 23/2/2007. Specifically section 2(a) of the motion says “(a) That each year the ACF set a target amount of income to be raised in connection with the ASTC.” It seems in that section that there is no intention to use the levy on anything other than ASTC. There is no authorisation of a cream-off by the ACF from the levy, and there is no authorisation of a cream-off by the AusJCL. The full amount of the levy was moved to go to the ASTC. The target amount is listed in section 3 (of the motion) as $6,600, in 2006. Chess Victoria has been levied $1650 in the past 2 years. The $6600 figure has remained as the national levy for 2 years. Most 2-day chess events in Australia would have an administrative budget far less than $6600. If the Tournament Organizer wishes to add additional factors to the event, such as prizes, give-aways, and catering, the Tournament Organizer should 1. Ensure receipt of the full allocation of $6600 from the ACF 2. Consider a charge for attendance at any catered sessions. |

hi Mike
I saw you run this line before with Carl or Grant. I think their strategy of one year at a time is appropriate while they are rebuilding the Club. If you look at your list I think you will find they are all run by commercial promoters who are willing to underwrite the risk of a substantial promotion. I am not sure there would be a consensus among the Presidents to apply scarce CV funds to a large scale event unless the Siren's work on sponsorship goes up a notch. My memory of the MIO was that it was in lieu of the SIO; but the SIO seems to be still on the drawing board. *** Or was your question, "Is there a commercial Victorian promoter putting forward an item"? No regards MOZ

The ASTC levy calculation is based on state population figures but how it is spent was entirely up to the ACF as it went into general revenue. Now that the AusJCL is in place the levy is still collected by the ACF but is granted to the AusJCL. |

The call from the MCC (per Grant Szuveges) for more CV newsletters was strongly supported by most Presidents. A target of 1 per month was the consensus.
Expect a call from the Siren to fill the vacant chair of Editor.

Maybe Firegoat7 could fill the editor's role? He is a good writer.

He has just released a brochure for the event; details will be posted in a new thread on Ozchess. And will be updated on this official page.
