Hmmm, the key question is who is holding the meeting and who do they want to attend. Once you answer that question, its quite easy to recognise which party should be the more proactive.

Yep its probably just coincidence or neglect or defensive posturing or alienation or passive aggressiveness or a whole host of competing, rationalities, moralities and economic considerations.

In the Canberra political commentators group, the heuristic always is presume accident over conspiracy every time.

Honestly Moz I am quite neutral about these things, but at some point within an organisation you would think that a little bit of planning would go a long way towards preventing accidents.

cheers Fg7

Well, they did a "little bit of planning', as you hoped for.
But, obviously, they would have benefited from more planning, or input.

Curious comment Michael. I am wondering why these clubs in particular and not others? Or were you just plucking names "at random"?

The Publicist has posted this more detailed reminder

The Annual General Meeting of Chess Victoria will be held at the Emulation Hall, Rochester Road, Canterbury at 8.00 pm, Monday 4 February 2008.
This is a little reminder for all those posters who have so eagerly awaited the Chess Victoria annual general meeting.
If you propose to nominate for a position [and there are many]make sure your nomination is in at the start of the meeting. If you are proposing to attend and vote make sure you are registered as an affiliated club delegate

Wow. I have just seen early indications of delegate names of attendees @ the CV AGM...scheduled for next Monday.
Three Clubs that have not sent delegates in recent times, and multiple delegates. Very interesting.

'Tis curious that only when the state head honcho for two decades, goes to the federal level, so many hats are thrown into the ring.

Are there many hats being thrown into the ring? Moz said multiple delegates, but they are not necessarily standing for office?

Despite the fact that I have a very busy day on Monday, I will try to do my best to attend. I hope the AGM will be free to the general public! If not, I better take my SBS card with me to pretend I will attend as media rep.
No, seriously now, I hope everything goes well and that CV will continue as strong and progressive as ever!
Cheers and good luck to all!
