Ideally this should be set up as a separate thread and not put under the election thread - moderators please consider this idea.
It is now time to sift through the postings on the election thread to sort out the good ideas from the chaff. Clearly the new executive will do this but in my opinion it will be helpful if the various posters on this forum post their ideas. I am not going to post my ideas first up as I do not wish to hog the limelight. One thing that is good to see is that Trevor Stanning and David Grenness are fast out of the blocks and have already commenced the process of transferring the function of Treasurer. |

Come on New CV Committee...I know it's only been a week, but "start as you mean to go on" is a good policy. People only ever remember the first and last things you do.
Why take the time to update the 2010 Office Bearers without phone numbers and email addresses of the rest of the committee? CV Officebearers Website. And the Calendar for 2010? At least take the time to remove the 2009 info so it is a blank-slate... Come on guys....pick up the pace, you won the election now prove you deserve the positions. |

If one were to look at the Croydon website you would find that they generally have their AGM in Jan.
(With Snail King involved I am sure it will be held on time!) Similar dates normally exist for other clubs as well and this is where they will all confirm their calendars for 2010. This is probably a good starting point when talking about communication between clubs, and is also why CV moved their AGM back to Nov. CV needs to talk to clubs about a common AGM date so that calendars can be published on a common date. Also applicable for entry into the Gran Prix as that has a Dec cut off date also. |

Hi Il cav',
My Club has just approved our 2010 calendar, we would be happy to submit it to CV for inclusion, but we don't know where to send it to. Would you please be so kind as to indicate a CV contact address? Thank you!

email admin@chessclub.com.au for your club username and password. There are help video's online to help you do this... and if you still require more help just let me know and I'm happy to show you how it all works. |

Send your calendar to "Gerry Hartland" <gerrit.hartland@bigpond.com> Send a copy to me as well please.
I have carried out an evaluation of various calendars and the google calendar is in my opinion the best that I have seen. I recommend it.

You can easily build calendars for yourself by logging into Google and it has instructions as to how to embed the calendar into your website. It works as I am sure that David's code does. (I read the source code). Should you build your own calendar or use the offer made by David Cordover? Do not fret over this issue. Whether you build the calendar yourself or use David's site the calendar remains yours. You can easily move in either direction. If you decide to make the change it will require a very small change to David's site, your clubs website, and very likely in a short time the Chess Victoria website.

I was going to hold fire on suggestions for improvements but this issue is one that needs to be addressed.
