Why did you create that weakness on d4?

I love it how you forced him to create weaknesses, and then took control of the light-squares.

Do you mean with c4? That's just a new I've decided to play the french exchange with c4 after swapping. I've had some reasonable success with it and besides it's more interesting then the the c3 games I played.

Yeah thanks I'm not sure but I think g6 would've lost for them as well just maybe not as swiftly.

I figured I'd try this whole french defense thing as black, I almost thought d4 was compulsory though lol. Either way a nice, well, semi queen sac here. I thought about it for 50 seconds by the way, I had troubles convincing myself but in the end just played it and it worked out

I'm wondering if it was necessary for them to play Ka3.. I'll check it out.

Oh wow they could've just taken the rook on move 26 haha
Yeah it could be assumed king a3 wasn't necessary then lol
and also I had a checkmate on move 27.. Bc1+ Forcing 28. Qb2 because if Kb4 then a5 mate.
28.. Bxb2+
29. Kb4 (forced) a5 #

Well.. that sort of dampens my wonderful queen sac but I guess sometimes those types of moves stun people. Either way I win!! lol

That is what I thought they would do! You dodged a bullet there.

Well I broke a barrier I wasn't expecting to break for quite a while!
The 1700 barrier. This game isn't particularly special but it's the one that got me up to 1702 so I thought I'd post it for that reason alone!

So I was sitting down today and went hmm let's see if I have any old chess games lying around. Somehow I did! So I thought, hey I'll check them out. I wished that I hadn't...

Please note the following game was a proper tournament game and it was from last year. and yes that really is me with the black pieces.

I can not believe how bad I was playing only last year.

Nicely done Jaydon!

I know Jon Humphrey, he's a nice chap. His son claimed to be a stronger chess player than David Smerdon a few years ago (and at the time he possibly was). His son was even board #1 at Brisbane Grammar, and an excellent tennis player to boot.

Queen traps for life
I'll be honest I was kind of lucky they went and got their queen trapped bacuase I was wasting moves for no apparent reason..
Was a 5-minute pool game played on ICC.
This game also marks 14 unbeaten in a row on ICC

What a stupid way to play against the dragon lol. The book line is so much more forcing than the crap he played you with. Well done, although I'd seriously recommend you find another opening for black, perhaps continue the one you used against me in your time victory?

Yeah well I basically just do improv against the closed sicillian lol. Yeah I was thinking of the najdorf, although as you saw I'm not so good with move order or what to do after a few moves.. But can be worked on

There are actually plenty of videos on the Najdorf online. Particularly on youtube.

So I'm not entirely sure how well I did or didn't play but I haven't played for a bit but thought I'd play a couple of games for the third round of the interschool chess comps tomorrow.. Anyway I won this game over a pretty good rated opponent for me
Even if they did blunder... What's funny though is I thought they'd won a pawn when I was looking at it waiting, but once they made the move I realised my queen covered my knight

Nice checkmate Jaydon!

I love that final position, you used your knight very well.
