Hi LM,

LM it would make it easier for people to view your games on Ozchess if you uploaded them onto the new Java Pgn game viewer.

1)Save game in Chessbase as a PGN file.
2) Start your post and click on 'manage attachments'
3) Click the 'Browse' button in the new window
4) Find your saved pgn file on your computer
5) Click 'upload' (the pgn game will now upload to Ozchess)
6) Close the window and then submit your new thread or post.

If all goes well everybody will be able to follow your games on the PGN viewer.

cheers,

Thanks Dave.
I discussed this with Laurence on Friday night last and I think this is his first attempt to post a game. Hopefully he can follow-through with your advice and we can get this display to work.

The pgn in Laurence's game probably wouldn't work because for some strange reason there are dollar symbols in it!

Hi LMatheson

I have highlighted a few of the dollar symbols in your pgn. Our pgn viewer doesn't recognize anything other than tags and moves. Dollar signs and + or - like +0.05, that would just confuse the viewer. It needs to be a pure pgn :Guess What:

I am looking forward to going over many of your games.

Best Regards,

Alex

Default Pure PGN Files

The below is an example of the above game in pure pgn format (up to move 28 because I was lazy), and opened/ displayed using Notepad. I have attached this game using the Attach Files feature so the game will display in the chess viewer.

Notice how annotation is done! Many programs such as ICC's Blitzin, Winboard, and others allow a person to add annotation to their games. Adding brackets between the { and } brackets is a really bad idea.

Also notice that 3 unecessary tags have been removed (ie. PlyCount, Event Date, etc).

and i love the annotation as well. i don't necessarily agree with it all but i think it is great someone took the time to annotate one of their games.

That's great Laurence! I have found that occasionally I get an error tag as well, and sometimes all that needs to be done is leaving the viewer with the error tag, going to the homepage, and then returning. Upon return, for some reason, the viewer displays as it should This has only happened to me once or twice though.

Best

Alex
