2112 actually :Guess What:

But I just stuffed up a great position, easily winning, and drew some 2150 fish. Even though its a draw, the game feels like a loss because I should have won it.

Oh well no point worrying about what might have been, just don't let it happen next time!
Looks like you finished up on 2111! nice job. It's funny how our rating difference was about 250 on FICS but on ICC it's about 700!

It actually evened out later that day when someone stalemated me with 2 Queens on the board versus only my King

Thumbs up Defeating a 2200 Fish!

Okay Fans,

We hit almost 2160 today before letting a couple games slip. Below is a win against a 2200, nicely wrapped up - courtesy of your resident and favourite Grandmaster - AO :Guess What:

This game is for JustaKnight. I was down a piece against the fabled GM Axiom, but, with some nifty endgame skill, got my e pawn to promote and then Axiom's nightmare began!

Default AO defeats IM from Egypt!!!

I should write a book called how to beat am IM in 6 moves!

Today I did just that! I used Alekhines famous mate on some Egyptian IM and gave him a learning experience he will surely remember for years to come! In game two the game lasted a few moves longer - barely, but when our IM friend dropped a piece he knew who the better blitz player was and resigned accordingly!

Good job AO, but is an Egpytian IM really the same quality as one for the US or UK?

Yes. While there may be some difference between FM's, IM's generally are required to meet FIDE's high standards before they are awarded the IM title. So an IM from Egypt is roughly the same strength as an IM from the USA or UK.

Default Never Give Up!

In a classic example of why you MUST play to checkmate, please see my game below. I drop a Queen and keep on trucking. While it is true that when you are down a lot of material, you are only going to save maybe 5% at best of the games. But hey, that is still 5%. Too many people like to quit when they are down material. They have no fight in them, no fighting instincts. They do not deserve the honour of playing chess.

Thumbs up Beautiful Attacking Chess by AO

In a game I wanted to win because I was so upset at having lost the game before it, I played boldly, sacrificed, and finally generated an unstoppable attack that only those of us who were born GM abilities can do.

Best Wishes,

GM Alex

Note: Annotations are my own but I am not foolish enough to pretend putting a copyright notice will achieve anything. Therefore this game can be reproduced elsewhere.

Indeed, its a fantastic display of my raw Grandmaster abilities on display!

LOL @ at the stalemate game.
Reminds me of how John Myers Stalemated you when he had K+Q vs K in the UQ Open 2001 Tournament.
At the end of the game, when you put your hand out, John Myers grumbled, "I'm not shaking your hand". Then you start to walk off and he says, "Set up the pieces!"
It was a classic.

Yeah, I saw John on the bus the other day. He has wiped that stalemate from his memory because he doesn't remember me.

The thing is he had 5 minutes left on the clock but I created a sense of urgency as though he would flag any moment, and it worked, he stuffed up. I earned that half point

Yes, I forgot about that.
I was initially under the impression he only had seconds left.
Infact, he had at least 3 minutes left.
Amazing that you were able to out bluff a 2000+ acf rated player like that.
Well played!
