I had the pleasure of watching this game as it unfolded
I must say however that I had my doubts when Ax dropped (i mean umm sacced...) the queen with 3 seconds remaining, however showing true Axiomatic form he managed to checkmate the 2399 with all but 2 seconds remaining! Well done Ax

And I have been long awaiting an Ax journal and I'm very glad you finally got one!! Keep posting games in here please Ax!!

(on a side note please stop shouting so much AO it's becoming really difficult to hold the number one position with you shouting so much!!)

Good job Ax! "Axiom", hear him roar Siberian chess tiger to the core!" (or something like that..)

He obviously used hypnotic mind technique 435X to lull his opponent into a deep trance where he could manipulate him at will. But I am sure Axiom failed to mention that. As soon as I saw this game I knew. You cannot fool a fellow tiger. If the other Siberian Chess Tigers knew he was using this highly dangerous techniques to win mere blitz games, they would roll over in their graves!

That's quite large accusations your making there AO! I don't believe Ax would ever think of such a thing!!

I watched this game live! I saw no common brain control symptons displayed by the opponent!

Hmmmmmmm, well, maybe if the Ax puts up a few more games, we'd have a broader selection of material to make better observations.

Yes, Axiom - or Grandmaster Axiom as he is known in some circles - is a sacrifice specialist and can generate counter play from the smallest most innocent looking sacrifice.

Axiom, show him what I mean by putting up another game.

Yes, yes - that game will demonstrate my point nicely!

Default Silicon Monster V The Tiger !

Ok , lets first set the scene ....

It was an otherwise innocuous early May day in 2004 when i strangely ( i can barely keep up at 5min chess !) embarked on a Bullet(1min for all moves) game against a 2700+ (at the time) silicon monster . Quite why i decided to do this is still not clear to me to this day .

What ensued , left me gasping for breath in a complete state of clinical shock .

This may quite likely be one of the more astonishing games of chess at this time limit ever played ( given the huge rating disparity ).

I will now give the opening few moves ( if AO or someone else could kindly erect the board position , i would be most grateful )

But before i do this , i would like to help assist viewers in getting into the mood for this battle , by absorbing the very essence of what it is to take on and defeat such an awesome foe .(if the heaviest metal makes you a bit queasy , i will allow you to skip this ....but keep in mind you will need a strong constitution to bear witness to the monster's final humiliation)

Are you ready ?
Strap yourselves in ,
Black is mated in a blur of 26 moves ( at the conclusion of the game i had 26 seconds left ,the computer 27 seconds ! )

Axiom ( 1810 ) - Queen Maxima (2665) 1 0 7/5/04

1 e4 c5
2.Nc3 e6
3.f4 Nc6
4.Nf3 d5
5.e5 a6
6.d3 b5
7.a3 c4
8.g3 Nh6
9.d4 Nf5
10.Bg2 Bd7
11.0-0 Qb6
12.Qe1 Ncxd4
13.Nxd4 Bc5
14.Kh1 Nxd4
15.a4 Nxc2
16.Qe2 Nxa1

as Mark Chapman IM said to me "you were getting crushed" and indeed i was . However a cornered tiger is a most dangerous beast !

17.f5 Nb3
18.Bf4 Nd4

At this stage i could hardly see the board through the blur of moves . My tiger instincts knew i had to lash out , i was being crushed , but what could i do ?
The bullet was coming to hit the bone , in the hazy twilight zone where time seemed to stand still ,but instead it struck metal , heavy metal .
The Ax smashed the silicon monster , in a blind fury .

~musical interlude~

As we enter the twilight zone blur of bullet chess.
"all circuits are dead"
"where am i to go , now that i've gone too far "
