Hi all,
Last year the Oceana Seniors was held at Box Hill and it was a great tournament. This year the 2012 Asian Senior Championships and 2012 Asian Amateur Championships are being held in Sydney. These should be magic tournaments. The flyers are available at Oceania Chess | www.oceaniachess.com I have discussed these briefly with Brian Jones. My plan at present is to take the daylight XPT from Melbourne to Strathfield then a suburban train to Parramatta then walk or taxi to the motel that I stay at. The hard question is whether to return to Melbourne on the Friday to play the Victorian Open or to play The tournament in in Sydney over Queens birthday weekend. Great work by the Oceana and Sydney guys to get these tournaments.

You will be exhausted by the time you return to Melbourne for the Vic Open but then again knowing you, tiredness is not a matter. Also being a parochial Victorian you would be thinking about the Vic Open all the time. hehe also imagine trying to justify to the Captain your absence from the tournament particularly since it's held in BHCC! ![]() On the other hand, I would suggest that you should enjoy your chess (and social) activities in Sydney by playing an additional tournament there! After all in venue and organisation matters I must admit that NSW is at least a division (in EPL terms) better than the Vics! Whatever you do, enjoy your time there! |
