Melbourne Chess Club Championship 2012 - OzChess

MELBOURNE CHESS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
2012

An ACF and FIDE rated event.

Format: 9 round Swiss on Monday evenings at 7.15pm

Time controls: 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move.

Dates: Round 1: February 6th
Round 2: February 13th
Round 3: February 20th
Round 4: February 27th
Round 5: March 5th
(no round March 12th due to Ballarat tournament)
Round 6: March 19th
Round 7: March 26th
Round 8: April 2nd
(no round April 9th due to Easter)
Round 9: April 16th

Entry Fees: $75 full and $65 concession, free entry to GMs and IMs. All participants must be 2012 MCC members. MCC membership is payable on the first day of the event.

Prizes: To be announced. Approx 70% of entry fees will be paid back in prizes. The winner will be awarded the title “Melbourne Chess Club Champion” for 2012.

Byes: Players may take up to 2 half point byes in round 1-7. Half point byes are not given in rounds 8 and 9.

Arbiter: Kerry Stead (the best in the business!)

Grand Prix: This event is the second event in the 2012 MCC Grand Prix.

I don't recall Urban being this high rated before. Is it a fad? Will he sink really fast as an overrated player? Or, is he here to stay? Will he consistently fly with the eagles?

2100 and climbing I'd say! Won the vic reserves in 2010, beat Baron this weekend.
