15 Lycett, Garry 1942 1819 [0] : Beckman, John 1718 1569 [0]
16 Kovacevic, Paul 1860 1711 [0] : McCart, Roger 1700 1543 [0]

18 Hain, Anthony 1835 1595 [0] : Dale, Finley 1626 1306 [0]
19 Lovegrove, Adam 1572 1393 [0] : Bekker, Gary D 1830 1617 [0]
20 Martin, James 1815 1625 [0] : Kolak, Tanya 1232 [0]
21 Pearce, Oscar [0] : McCart, Richard 1808 1711 [0]
22 Beattie, Roger 1770 1618 [0] : Brennan, James 821 [0]
That was the draw however a few more players joined the tournament. Unfortunately, the Wolfman ran into Michaille Laurent who is a strong attacking player from France who has just moved to Melbourne.

I will update the results I know.

Code:
1 Dowling, John 2051 1987 [1] : Stojic, Dusan 2294 2277 [1]
Board 1 do not know what went on although Dowling looked better I thought
2 Dragicevic, Domagoj 2277 2215 beat Dale, Ari 1994 1892 sacking the exchange to mate net with Queen and Bishop
3 Zelesco, Karl 1990 1964 lost to Rujevic, Mirko 2265 2299 kind of a strange opening where Karl looked better, but somehow Mirko muddied the waters.
4 Wallis, Christopher 2259 2314 [1] beat Mijatovic, Bosko 1947 1890 [1] Bosko fought hard but Chris managed to wield the two bishops and the Queen against his King, although he didn't have it all his own way.
5 Voon, Richard 1933 1842 [1] lost to Gorka, Carl 2162 2155 [1] Karl played his usual nice style.
 6 Pyke, Malcolm L 2132 2103 [1] beat Papadinis, Jim 1885 1765 [1] Didn't see much of this.
 7 Wyss, Felix 1890 1822 [1] ?? Skiotis, Pano 2130 2045 [1] not sure
 8 Urban, Sylvester 2098 2017 [1] : Kaplan, Alex 1681 1584 [1] Not sure
9 Frayle, Ben 1549 1301 [1] lost to Beaumont, David 2065 1997 [1] Comfortable win Ben went beserko sacking pieces to resign in 18 moves
10 West, Guy 2323 2309 [.5] still going Harris, Anthony 1444 [1] Anthony has played well in this game to maintain some drawing chances when I left 2Bs and 2 pawns versus 2pawns and Knight and Bishop. The problem for Guy is that it looks like Anthony may be able to simplify into a draw with the two Bs
11 Brown, Kevin M 1728 1682 [.5] lost to Ly, Thai 2034 1998 [.5] Thai was all over Kevins position early I think he won
12 Ashlock, Brad 1694 1465 [.5] 1:0F Lacey, David 1876 1577 [.5] Controversy as Lacey pulls out of the event.
13 Chmiel, Rad 1870 1736 [.5] beat Dilnutt, Charlotte 1448 1031 [.5] Nice positional build by Rad
14 Penrose, Justin 2018 2031 [0] still going Ogden, Marcus W 1742 1588 [0] When I left Marcus was better, possibly winning, but there was still play with Queen,Rook and Knight each
15 Lycett, Garry 1942 1819 [0] beat Beckman, John 1718 1569 [0] Barring a mishap Gary was grinding a piece up
16 Kovacevic, Paul 1860 1711 [0] still going McCart, Roger 1700 1543 [0] I think Roger had the edge
17 Chew, Jason 1593 1162 [0] drew with Reid, Bill 1852 1639 [0] Grandmaster draw
18 Hain, Anthony 1835 1595 [0] beat Dale, Finley 1626 1306 [0] Finley self destructed a better position (he needs to work harder at the board) Anthony fought well.
19 Lovegrove, Adam 1572 1393 [0] ???? Bekker, Gary D 1830 1617 [0] not sure
20 Martin, James 1815 1625 [0] drew with Kolak, Tanya 1232 [0] Tanya was winning the ending a knight up but poor technique caused a draw.
21 Pearce, Oscar [0] ??? McCart, Richard 1808 1711 [0] not sure
22 Beattie, Roger 1770 1618 [0] ??? Brennan, James 821 [0] Not sure

You must play every tournament that will ever be organised! That is what is expected of the Chosen One!

Excellent, you are more important than the small fry and their heydays are over. Choose your tourneys carefully and GM lessons? GM Rogers seems to know how to hit the nail on the head.

Clearly this is total self delusion. The Mans future is already assured, Caissia's affection does not look kindly on those who are not devoted. Sammy Reshevsky could have been an immortal, instead he became an accountant!

Meh, the middle class loves words like solid and average, indoctrinating the belief that education is the carrot and stick approach. Real education requires self belief, the idea being that autonomy wills you towards your destiny. The thing is with Autonomy you have to exercise it.

I wish the Man good luck with his studies and hope he gives it 100%. Unfortunately, for chess players we won't see him picket fence the Club Championship this year.

Probably wants to be a rocket scientist like your great self. The simple fact is that somebody with the Mans talent could become one of Australia's greatest ever chess players or maybe a dime a dozen accountant like Sammy Reshevsky.

I'll be writing about this tournament, but it's different when you're playing to when you're watching.
