You may want to put a hold on that prediction Paul. The Red Baron is in the building!!

No one can beat Michael Baron. Why bother even having a poll? Its all determined now, the only question is who will come in 2nd.

Nobody is likely to, but it's definitely not beyond Carl. The goat used to have a great record against Baron.. don't know what happened but I think the weekly allegro has swept Michael into some form. Sylvester, Justin and Ari outside chances too. Baron will need to be at his best to win with a picket fence

Default 25 players? The Red Baron grinds out a win!

Round 1

The MCC Australia day weekender is under way with FM Michael Baron assuming the mantle of top seed. It looked like every board had a contest with some good fighting chess on display. MCC junior Finley Dale, fresh from his =3rd place finish in the U12s at the Australian junior, pushed FM Michael Baron for most of the game, only succumbing in a Queen and Knight versus queen and Bishop ending.

Here is the game.

[White "Finley Dale"]
[Black "FM Michael Baron]
[Event "Australia Day Weekender"]
[Result " 0-1" ]

1.c4 c5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3. g3 g6 4. Nf3 Bg7 5. Bg2 0-0 6.0-0 Nc6 7. b3 Ne4 8.Bb2 Nxc3 9.Bxc3 Bxc3 10. dxc3 d6 11. Qd2 Kg7 12. Rfd1 a5 13.Ne1 Qc7 14. Nc2 Be6 15. There is an error in the move order somewhere, that's why the game is not displaying properly

Hi Guys,

Will give a Round 2 report tomorrow. I just had a sick game game against Jack 'Hammer" Puccini, where I sacked a Queen for a worse position, only to reach a better rook ending, then get totally outplayed before scrambling a draw through sheer luck. Such is Life, but the kid did play well and at least I road tested the Alekhine.

cheers,
