Two very respectable e-mails arrived tonight from AusJCL.
If you don't have yourself on the distribution list for these, and you are interested in junior chess, jump to it now.
Well done AusJCL.
(Dec 2009 Bulletin
and
2009 Aus School teams Championship).

Default small correction

Dear Analyst Can you Please change wraith to wrath. It does rather muck up the sentence and I do know how to spell received.

Issue #51 of the weekly newsletter is available through this link.

The Editor's sudden paroxysm on Chess Victoria matters seems to have subsided.

This issue contains a picture of David Hacche. See if you recognise the expression.

I know I've been critical of BHCC newsletter recently, but the latest one is excellent.

As well as coverage and photo's from the Summer Swiss, there is an excellent piece by Trevor Stanning about concentration at the board. I only hope those it is directed at can sit still long enough to read it all

Well done

If you liked that issue...#52/1, then just wait till you see the next for the new year.
Highlights are
  • a terrific new format, even better than the glossy of 2009
  • the Captain reponds to all those who asked questions on the acceleration strategy of the 2009 Canterbury Summer Swiss; a unique and eclectic defence.
    NTTIAWWT, and NTIAWWIW.
  • no CV stuff.
  • Fludey's calendar exposed for the first time.

Default I can hardly wait

I can hardly wait for the next issue. The Tasmanian tiger may not like the arbiter's view on acceleration

Ok...the issue has now been distributed.
Download the .pdf file from http://www.boxhillchess.org.au/e2010/news/201001.pdf

And see if you can be first to post on the Acceleration article. (No one-liners allowed GG.)

Default Axceleration

What is the basis of the argument against an increase in the competitiveness of games in a tournament ?

That is a one-liner Ax, and therefore.........probably not likely to get KB to screw it in an appropriate Ozchess thread.

In my defence... As Axiom, you have to appreciate how very difficult it is for me to be anything other than pithy ,succinct , elemental ,to the point, and, indeed , dare i say it , axiomatic .

So , given this, i would suggest a revision of the one-liner rule .

Thank you,
Ax

Default Pre-release titlillation...

Newsletter #4 is eagerly awaited as it contains pics of three club members who were title winners at Hobart for the 2010 Australian Junior Championships.

The editor also re-visits an old topic of scoring on scoresheets because some old-timers are still in need of re-education.

And, I see that he is trying to sneak in a picture of Doug Hamilton, another previous Australian title-holder. Probably so that the latest crop of under-rated juniors will know who to target in the forth-coming Autumn Cup.
