Default Post on Chess Chat by CAQ President.

Hi Jeff
I have some good news! Elliott Renzies has kindly donated $60 to your prizefund- he thinks you do a great job but cannot play in it this year! I will add Elliott's $60 to my $60 entry fee when I post it PO BOX 196 BUDERIM QLD 4556 shortly.
Tony Weller offers his apology too- he is off to the Guam Open organized by Brian Jones, an Oceania Chess Event. This will give all other CAQ Players a chance to get a good lead over Tony in this year's CAQ Participation Grand Prix. Tony won this CAQ Grand Prix in 2011!

This year the CAQ has boosted its own participation Grand Prix to $2000 in bonus prizes, and it now has 5 $200 rating group prizes included. I know this will make Anthony Solomon happy for sure!

I call on all CAQ players to play the 2012 Bill Powell Open at the Coolum-Peregian RSL on Sat Feb 18 and Sun Feb 19 and get their Qld Grand Prix points off to a flying start. Its a great venue and plenty of accomodation is nearby.
I hope to see Kevin Casey and hopefully play him in the Lightning Event as well. I hope to talk Kevin into getting a Bullwinkle Team into the 2012 Teams Event in December- I will be the DOP for this event!

Cheers & beers Mark C Stokes 0431419136

With our latest entry our entries are up to 28 with a few days left. Numbers will be a little higher I have a couple of phone calls to return, and there will be some last minute entries no doubt, maybe some more high rated players who want to test themselfs against a GM (the 2011 winner of the Caloundra Open is coming back to the Sunshine Coast to attempt to get his name on our trophy a second time).
