The tournament shaping up to be a ripper with 4 candidates(Solomon,Cheng,Illingworth,Morris) to play in Chess Olympiad 2012 for Australian National Team will have to impress the selectors.

Also its nice to see former NSW Champion Michael Ginat returning to tournament chess after long absence.

We hope that someone will be able to make IM norm result.

First round pairings

Levi-Omar

Rujevic-Lee Wang Sheng

Garner-Morris

Solomon-Illingworth

Ginat-Cheng

This one has not been a CV event. It has always been run by various privateers in my memory.
It is an Invitational.

I do not think this is correct. It really is no big deal, please correct me if I am wrong, but Leonid was the main organiser for this event.

I don't know the full history of which privateers have run it.
And I don't think it has been tracked on the chat-boards much even though it has run for 15 years. I would expect that Chess World has run it, and from memory Noble Park had it as an initiative in their first year, and recently Leonid has put the field together.

CV has been willing since 2000 to be a co-sponsor so that the winner of this event receives the title of Victorian Master, and more importantly Victorians have a norm opportunity. In a recent year, a major sponsor was F.I.D.E.

Why were the starting pairings change? It would suffice just to swap Illingworth for Stojic, not rearrange the entire pairings.

There was an error in the initial pairings declared yesterday. That led to the new post on this thread, early.
Max withdrew later this morning, and Dusan accepted the invitation to play. So Dusan's name was subbed in for max.

It's been going longer than 15 years. I think you might find a report on it for one year in OTM, assuming David's archived them all on one of his websites.

I recall Jammo and Ostrowski playing one year.

Greetings,

Moz you are getting slack. How about posting some games on Ozchess, so that when the Tournament finishes we can still view the games?

James "The Man" Morris, any chance of an annotating one of your better games?

cheers,

I have not been at the Club for the Masters, so my access was your access; i.e.we could see DGT display via Net.

cheers,

And cheers to you also.
