More benefits of the Box Hill divisionalised intermingling SWISS format are most obvious in the later rounds of the tournament. In the early rounds the traditional 'junk rounds' of the ordinary SWISS are avoided. In the later rounds the better performed B Division players get their chance to play against some A Division opponents. I will be keen to see the outcomes of boards 9, 21, and 23 in tonight's fixtures.

^ Board 3 drawing a crowd atm due to an interesting postion.
Denis Bourmistrov used to terrorise the Box Hill higher-rated players when he was a candidate for the Australian Junior. There are a few spectators who enjoying the tables being turned. Board 18, was a quickish loss for one of our fav. posters. Board 4...the analysis is taking longer than the game elapse time. ![]() MOZ

A few grey hairs for the organisers in round 1 as there were a number of no-shows from the internet entrants (leaves an empty chair and a sad-faced opponent), a little tacker we forgot to put in the file for the second month in a row, and two kids who arrived late but had virtually the same name and got us confused with the no-shows. Canteen takings were $175 nett. Well done Antonette Ziffer and Mrs Narenthran. Rookies winner was John WP Wong Queens winner was a tie Savthri Narenthran and Janake Narenthran. Adult dollars went to Leon Kempen, Dmitry Dyson, and David Stimson. ------------- In one division of 10 players we had 9 of them tie for equal second. This made the trophy strategy a bit sus. MOZ*
