Rapidly improving juniors steal rating points from older players which drives the whole table downwards.

New Zealand used to have a system where they gave you a bonus of two or three extra ratings points per game. This was anything but perfect.

It's probably more incompetant than wierd, which is worse!

It is odd that the entire table is 'driven down' and the rating officer is clueless as to how to make proper adjustments.

Default Confirm 2011's Calendar please!

Could we please have an official confirmation of the Box Hill Chess Club's 2011 Calendar as excellently presented by David Flude in his site?
Either a yes or no, or just publishing the Calendar on the Club's website will do!
Thanks in advance!

Hard copies of the first few months for 2011 of the calendar were handed out at last Sunday's rookies cup. The calendar was announced in our latest newsletter sent out earlier today.

Discussions are taking place between our webmaster and myself as to how we integrate the calendar with the Box Hill website.

I built the calendar as a free standing calendar so as to avoid having to alter the Box Hill website during the construction phase.

One further point is that I have built the first four months a a PDF file although this is not yet on the web site.

Last but not least we discovered this year that our calendar tends to have additions during the year, as events are added. Furthermore details of individual tounaments will be added during the year will be added as they are finalised. I have now indicated that this is version 1 of the calendar. I intend to show what changes are made in the calendar with each new version.

David thanks very much for your response!
Despite having more time for Chess next year, I still have to do lots of pre -scheduling.
Your excellent Calendar will be a formidable guide for me, as I am sure it will be of great help to other members of our chess community! Fantastic work and congratulations.
One last thing, please attach the Calendar's link to your signature, I am sure it will be of even more help!
Cheers and good luck

Version 2 of the calendar is now live on the web.

I suggest that people go to http://www.davidflude.com to see how the amendment history is shown. (remember to refresh your browser.)
