Default Victorian Teams Championships 2011

A new season is imminent and for my sins I am trying to direct this years event. I will be contacting clubs this week with invitations to play, but check out details of the format and feel free to comment on my blog.

Default The title-holders are now firm for 2011

Frank Cheng, as Team Manager has advised his firm 4 and 2 reserves for the Canterbury Junior #1 team for 2011.
Can they go back to back in the second year of A Grade in the Victorian Teams Championship?

Sorry, I didn't see this before. There will be 8 team divisions, so 7 rounds, about 1 per month from May to November.

On my blog there is a tag for Victorian Teams Championship, but I won't link to my blog on ozchess as it keeps redirecting to somewhere else.

I should have something to go to the clubs before next weekend. I might promote the teams champs at Ballarat.

Thanks for the response.

2 Divisions
8 teams per division.
Rumours of new entrants this year; a good thing.

Capped at 16 teams.
Who misses out?
First in best dressed
OR
Affiliated Clubs
OR
Best aggregate ratings.

Hmm
Promises to be an interesting Executive meeting.

Hi Moz, the league is not limited to 2 divisions. There may be as many divisions as teams warrant. The interesting issue will be assigning teams to divisions, and some may not get their preferred choice.

Whew that is a relief. The absence of a cap takes the pressure off a looming cull; which would have been super-controversial because we are informally running this with a minimum of the old over-specific rule set.

We move on then to the question of REGISTERED players, and hope that the guideline is as easy as the previous question.

Players are registered by their Club at the affiliation declaration time.
Q Does this require players to thus represent the Club that registered them?

Another hmm.

Players are not required to play for the club which registers them. So groups of players from different clubs can form teams together. That team would, however, need a nominated home venue and we would hope that clubs can accommodate teams such as this. One example I know of is a girls team which may be put together.

Saying that, of course it is a great chance for players to represent their clubs and they should feel honoured for doing so. But there is no obligation on them to do so.

I suggest that you bring flyers to the tournament. I have obtained permission from the tournament organizers to put out flyers for several events. The more the merrier.

First entries are coming in

Thanks to David Flude and CV for promoting the event to their mailing list, and more announcements should follow soon.

There are about 15 teams expressing an interest up to this point. A final effort on my part this week, will hopefully bring that number up to above 20

Can we get some sort of assurance from CV that they are not going to hold the final for this event at the same time as the MCC Allegro Championship (or any other MCC event) this year? Last years clash was detrimental to both tournaments and totally avoidable.

The MCC 2011 calendar has been out since late last year, so lets hope that CV actually check it this time to avoid a clash with this or any other event run by an affiliated club...

I can guarantee no assurances from CV, as I ain't a part of CV, but I can say that I'll try my best not to disrupt the calendar of any club in staging rounds of this event.

Of course, with such a busy calendar, it's going to be tough not to clash somewhere along the line, but I'll do my best
