A great idea
Geelong travelled to Ballarat on Sunday 18th for the Victorian Teams Competition match. They had decided to play the match in the spirit of the famous 1925 and 1926 matches, and so they played on 10 ! boards.
After 85 years Geelong gained a handsome revenge, winning 6, drawing 3, losing one. On the important top 4 boards, Geelong won 2 1/2-1 1/2 with the following board results : Board 1 : Michael Sugrue (Gee.) v Rob Loveband (Bal.) 1/2 - 1/2 Board 2 : Joel Beggs (Bal) v Stephen Fletcher (Gee.) 0-1 Board 3 : Zoran Babic (Gee.) v Patrick Cook (Bal.) 1/2 - 1/2 Board 4 : Kevin Perrin (Bal.) v Andrew Wemyss (Gee.) 1/2 - 1/2
