Default New ACTJCL website & Fundraising event

Hi everyone

Just a quick note to let you all know that the ACT Junior Chess League is launching a new website http://www.actjcl.org.au/actjcl_new/index.php

It's still a work in progress, so keep coming back to see it all pull together in coming weeks.

For those who were active in ACTJCL events in the recent (or distant) past please check a few places on the site and let me know ASAP if you spot any errors or are able to fill some gaps for us. We are working sometimes from perpetuals, sometimes from memory and sometimes (yay) from actual records of events but we are particularly hoping to create a complete historic record of:
  • ACTJCL Champions - we aim to put together a complete record of all of our events but have kicked off with just the ACT Juniors and our age-based events at this stage. Please rummage through those old trophies to let us know where your name should feature (or if we have an error)
  • ACTJCL National Champions - we want your name here if you have previously held a national age, rapid, lightning or problem-solving title
  • ACTJCL past National Representatives - if you have played for Australia at a past international event

We are not trying to overlook or snub anyone - we just don't have a full record, so please let us know. Apologies for any spelling boo-boos as well - again, just drop me a quick line.

A couple of features on the new site
  • Event information and (post event) results are all accessed from the calendar page
  • Next event, plus recent results & latest news items appear on the front page - we are putting together a news archive from which all past media releases will be accessed

And you can still go directly to the old site if you'd like to.

There are no bells and whistles, it's deliberately designed to work at a very simple level but any input about the functionality, ease of use, or ease of locating what you'd like to use, is welcome.

Don't forget (those players U20) that we'd like to see you join us on 16 July for our fundraiser for Emma Guo - the Olympiad Age Allegro. Full details are attached but also available front the front page of the website (and a BIG thank you to our sponsors Capital Trophies & Sportswear, Sydney Academy of Chess, Questacon & Zone 3 Laser Games).
