Guaranteed prize money of $1500!!! The 4-th Noble Park Chess Club Open, to be held at Paddy O'Donoghoue Centre

Venue: Paddy O'Donoghoue Centre 18-32 Buckley Street Noble Park 3174 (Melway 89 E3).The playing venue is excellent,with full air condition just 1-2 minute walking distance from Noble Park train station and there is plenty of free parking available.

Entry fees: GM and IM free provided they enter by Friday 9-th April, Full fee $60, Concession and Juniors $50 with $10 discount for Noble Park Chess Club members.

Payment: Due on the first day of the tournament.

Prize fund:

1st: $500
2nd:$350
3rd: $200
4th: $150

2 Rating Group Prizes: 1st $100, 2nd $50 in each division ( dependant on players in rating groups)

Best Junior Prize: $100 (min 5 junior entries)

prices may increase as we may have sponsorship for the tournament

If there are more than 40 entrants, the prize fund will increase.
Prizes will be shared equally between players on equal scores.

Starting time: 2 p.m. sharp on all playing days

Rate of play: 90 minutes + 30 sec per move

Note:
The club is able to cater for 40 players in regards to both room and chess equipment, however if you are on the playing list by Friday 2 pm,(23/04/2010) we will be able to make the adjustments. If you decide on the day that you are playing, we would like to ask you to bring a chess set and a clock otherwise we can't guarantee that you will be able to play.

Looking at last year's Noble Park Open there were 4 players finishing equal first, Stojic brothers, Justin Tan and Abdulwahab Rashid. Hopefully, this year's tournament can be as exciting as last year's.

A reminder Noble Park Open starts next Saturday. If players are planning to play in MCC Anzac day weekender, they can take a 0.5 point bye for the first round in NP Open. For the first time, the club is guaranteeing prizes rather than basing it on certain number of players. The prizes for this tournament are

1st: $500
2nd:$350
3rd: $200
4th: $150

2 Rating Group Prizes: 1st $100, 2nd $50 in each division ( dependant on players in rating groups)

Best Junior Prize: $100 (min 5 junior entries)

I will put up list of entries in the next few days so if anyone wishes to play, let me know.

For players playing in Anzac day weekender, there is an option to be paired together for the first round in NP open, but the games have to be played until Thursday. And there is still an option to just take half point bye. I will post list of entries tomorrow night.
