What do they need the extra 30 seconds a move for? In the olden days, Tal would often complaint to me, "I need more time to work out my tactical combinations Alex".

I would say to him, "Tal, you will never be World Chess Champion if you keep sulking like a child! Be a man, and get use to the no increment time controls."

He left that day, head down. I thought I had been too harsh on young Mikhail. But then, some years later, I think I saw him playing the ancient master himself, Botvinnik, for some kind of title or other. His tactical play in that series was ..... sufficient - by SCT standards.

I never told him I was proud of his achievement. That is not the Siberian Chess Tiger way. But I think it was mutually understood nevertheless.

Is this going to be a Catergory 3 Grand Prix tournament or Class 4 as stated on the Grand Prix website?

Just a note...entrants need to write direct to the tournament organisers listed on the entry flyer. It is not sufficient just to log a name on a chat-board.
