This 7 round SWISS tournament is scheduled for the Queens Birthday weekend; June 12-14 2010.
Early details are now on the Chess Victoria web-site. 2010 Vic. Open Championship Flyers will be available at the Ballarat/Bendigo week-ender this week. |

I thought I had been too harsh on young Mikhail. But then, some years later, I think I saw him playing the ancient master himself, Botvinnik, for some kind of title or other. His tactical play in that series was ..... sufficient - by SCT standards. I never told him I was proud of his achievement. That is not the Siberian Chess Tiger way. But I think it was mutually understood nevertheless.
