Billanook College (Mooroolbark) has been supporting quality chess incentives for their students and the wider community for a number of years, providing chess coaching and school tournaments for students within school as well as conducting their annual Billanook Chess Classic, held on a Saturday, which is open to public.
In 2010 Billanook College will be expanding their Chess program repertoire by offering to the public the Billanook College Chess Championship Cup tournaments. These events will be held on the four Saturday school tour dates of 20th March, 1st May, 19th June and 21st August. The idea is that children can attend the chess tournament while parents join in the tours. This is the College's first Chess Championship Cup in this very special year for Billanook College - their 30th birthday! A healthy prize structure is offered for an Open division as well as a number of junior divisions. Individual scores for each tournament accumulate over all 4 events to determine the grand prizes and winners of the perpetual Billanook College Chess Championship cups, to be presented at the conclusion of the last event on August 21st. More details will be made available shortly and posted here. For up to date information (prizes, entry fees and how to register online) please visit this site Note that the BCCCC is a joint venture between Billanook College and Northern Star Chess.

Yes, the increment is zero - no time for anything else! You can however play at any speed you like - it's just that the clock will stop after 15 minutes.
Online registration is now possible - see here for this. A nice flyer (2 to an A4 page) is also attached - if you like the look of it, print it out and give to your friends!

The organiser has told me there are about 12 registered entries so far. I have no list of names - note I am not organising this. A number of people have told the organiser they will come, but the count is for those that have registered.
PLEASE register online to avoid disappointment - taking a stab at numbers means also guessing on the maximum numbers - do YOU want to be the last person to enter on the day where there is not a chess set/clock available for you??

Based on the entries so far, Ethan is going to run away with it. I don't know why anyone else will bother to even show up.

20 entries at the moment and building. 6 in the Open, 7 in U16, 6 in U12 and 1 in U8 - come on you under 8s - make it a competition!!! Am expecting more as walk ups tomorrow.
Ah.. Ethan can only win 1 prize! Besides Kyle gives him a good run for his money in the Rookies shield events. For 15 minute games, it is long enough to really get into trouble and not have to blame the clock. Over 4 days of chess (for the total set of events) things could move around as well. Also, many do not have rapid ratings but may be great at it in practice.

WELL, EXXXXXXCCCCUUUUUSSE ME !
Is that really the type of tone to take with our founding father ?? I know you and your type think its all a joke , but a little respect would hardly go astray . Look, you've been here a year , made 18 posts , you're obviously what we call in the business a "fly by nighter' and as such , i, and others ,should perhaps allow for that particular contextual arrangement . But when someone has the gall to so blatantly give cheek like that to the very person that has given us all the freedoms we enjoy today , then , i'm sorry , i have to take exception .
