The Club nights begin on the 7th of January 2011 with the first two rounds of the Fischer random tournament that will run each Friday in January.
On the first night there will be 2 games for all players. Each game will be 25 minutes for each player with a 10 second increment for each move from the start. Players will get to play from this starting position in both games: B(on a8)QRNNKRB for black’s first rank B(on a1)QRNNKRB for white’s first rank Plan is to have a different opponent and different colour pieces in the second game For white to king-side castle he moves K to g1 and R(on g1) to f1. For white to queen-side castle he moves K to c1 and R(on c1) to d1; obviously requiring some usual preparation. All places will be decided on count back if necessary. Entry fees $15 for the whole tournament for BHCC and CJCC members. Others $25 for the whole tournament Friday* 7/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+5 seconds per move increment Friday 14/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+5 seconds per move increment 21/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+5 seconds per move increment Friday 28/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+5 seconds per move increment. I am experimenting using the three DGT boards to display these games. Anyone any hints and tips? MOZ*

Sample Fischer_Random game.
Curious errors clearly due to castling not being picked up by the DGT recording correctly, but on the other hand the here is correctly displayed from the DGT sensing. Probably should have read the doco. Anyone have a tip? |

Three hours to go to the start of the Fischer Random tournament for 2010. Games start at 7.45pm (after a few explanatory announcements). Two games on DGT display from the usual Box Hill web-site home-page.
The Commentary Team at Ozchess have the opportunity to name variations played (possibly) for the first time. Place your name in history.

The Club nights continue on the 29th of January with the final two rounds of the Fischer Random tournament that runs each Friday in January.
On the each night there will be 2 games for all players. Each game will be 25 minutes for each player with a 10 second increment for each move from the start. Players will get to play from this starting position in both games: R(on a8)KBRNBQN for black’s first rank R(on a1)KBRNBQN for WHITE’s first rank Plan is to have a different opponent and different colour pieces in the second game For white to h-side castle he moves K to g1 and R(on d1) to f1; obviously requiring some usual preparation. For white to a-side castle he moves K to c1 and R(on a1) to d1; obviously requiring some usual preparation. All places will be decided on count back if necessary. Entry fees $15 for the whole tournament for BHCC and CJCC members. Or $5 per night. Friday* 8/1/2010...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+10 seconds per move increment Friday* 15/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+10 seconds per move increment Friday* 22/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+10 seconds per move increment Friday 29/1/10...2 rounds starting at 7.45pm...25 minutes+10 seconds per move increment. Two DGT boards are used to display these games. MOZ* ps Hints and discussion points A White’s castling to the h-side sends the K to g1 and the R to f1 White’s a-side sends the K to c1 and the R to d1 B Possible first moves for white 1 b3 ... may be a good move to provide king safety 1 Ng3 ... this is White's worst placed piece; it may be sensible to get it into play asap. 1 a4 ... surely there is one F_R position where this is the best opening move. 1 d4 ... because some people always open with d4. 1 g4 ... surely the N on h1 can be held back one tempo in order to 'sit behind a pawn'.
