In my opinion I believe there is a fair bit of cheating on the internet. It seems to me that this cheating is done by people using computers to play their games.

Of course the problem now is discerning the difference between mimicking and compute play. I present an example on ICC of one such player who in my opinion is simply a computer bot.

On FICS, computers are permitted:
1. They can login as a guest. Guests do not play rated games, so this doesn't cause any problems with ratings.
2. They can use a declared computer account (with permission). One such is a wireless router, TogaRouter, running TogaII. Most of the computers rate well over 2000.

Yeah, the quality of play on FICS is better than ICC, however - the quality of functionality is poorer on FICS. FICS best selling point is that you can play suicide chess with other good players. I used to be the #1 suicide player in Australia you know - seriously!

Funny you should say that because I started coping a spam problem after some interactions on ICC. I even have this one guy called Raven who is stalking me, (well it could be someone I know)....

Seriously I am starting a register...lets hunt these cheats down and destroy them.

Gday guys, im new to OzChess and was just reading your posts about cheaters on ICC. Bare with me , I have a little story im not proud of. About 7 years ago, about 6 months after I first joined ICC i was having a bad run in life and on the chess board, so stupidly i used a computer chess program on 2 games. Within 48 hours the moderators picked this up.To continue to play on ICC I had to type in on my games profile that I had used a computer program to enhance my game play.As u can imagine this was very embarrising. I had to leave it there for 3 months. So YES the ICC did have practices in place to catch cheaters then, and im presuming 7 years on there methods are even better now. I have just recently rejoined the ICC after work and life have kept me away for past 5 Years, and i am happy to say a little wiser and happier so no more cheating from me. . Hope to see u all on the chess board.
