Default Trying To Find The Right Simulator

I need to find a chess simulator or basically a chess pc game which is free where I can play against the computer but I don't want it to be programmed to beat me. The last time I tried a chess game the computer was unbeateable. Maybe a game that includes a tutorial that can help me learn how to play the game properly.

Thank you.

I know what you mean. I recently put a chess game on my mobile and depending on the difficulty level, the computer is either unbeatable, or occasionally makes malarky moves that throw the game. I need something challenging that will make me a better player.

Guys,

If you are looking to improve then you need to be playing at club level. Computers only assist players who already are relatively good. Computers are rarely helpful to complete beginners. However, if you must play chess against a computer you should probably go here:

Shredder Chess Computer

Set it to easy.

Oh thanks alot AO
I'm glad you found one where I don't have to go through a long registration process, the game begins immedietly. You've found exactly what I am after. I'm starting to remember alot of the basic rules now like the simple pawn movements. lol

Damn internet connection seems a little bit laggy. Does anyone know if it is just a site problem or is it only on my end? I guess it's better then waiting 5 minutes playing against a real person.

ICC often has lag issues, FICS has less, but still sometimes does have lag issues as well.

ICC? International Cricket Council? lol
I think it might be a combination of that end and my end, my internet has been very slow lately. It would be great if there was a downloadeable version from that site so I can play it from the hard drive.
