Not true! I have tried this myself and seen the computer play different lines than it did before. On the internet chess club they even have a rule that if you do play the same line over and over again against a computer opponent simply to boost your rating, there are penalties for that.

Yeh I too have tried to be clever and use the exact same line on the same level however it played a different line then before and ended up wining..

With some of the laest computer chess programs like Rybka 3 having ratings around 3200, its doubtful any human could compete on that level. However, I don't know how they calculated a rating above 3000 for any program. They don't play grandmasters that often, so how they came up with those sky high ratings I really don't know.

Maybe they took some 2500 newly minted grandmaster and forced him to play the computer over and over again. The computer wins all 10 games losing and drawing none, so it got a 3000 plus rating that way.
